Call for Editor in Chief – (New Journal!) BMJ Open Sport & Exercise Medicine

BMJ Open Sport & Exercise Medicine is a new Open Access journal covering all aspects of sport and exercise medicine from physiology to return to play. This new venture will be an official journal of the British Society of Sport and Exercise Medicine (BASEM) and a sister journal to the British Journal of Sports Medicine (BJSM). We are seeking an Editor-in-chief who can maintain a high-level of peer review and represent the scientific and international reputation of BMJ and BASEM.

Specialists in any branch of sports medicine are welcome to apply. Joint applications from two or more individuals willing to work together as a team will be considered. Applicants should have a medical degree (MBBS, MD or equivalent); we anticipate the successful candidate will also have a PhD degree with a history of extramural funding, as well as an established record as a researcher. The ideal candidate(s) will have a commitment to education and academic excellence. The selected individual(s) will have editorial experience and vision to lead this new endeavour for BMJ.

Closing date for applications: 31st July 2014.

Full editorial support and training will be provided. The Editor should expect to spend up to a day in total each week on journal-related activities. The successful applicant(s) will be free to select his/her own team of Associate Editors and editorial board members.
