The content is continually updated and represents the most current version. It is hosted on the Palliative Care Portal of the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Knowledge Network<\/span>\u00a0website. It is available free of charge to those with an NHS Education Scotland ATHENS username and password.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 13px;line-height: 19px\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Drug updates<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Asilone discontinued in UK<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Asilone<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> oral suspension (Thornton &amp; Ross) an antacid containing simeticone 135mg, aluminium hydroxide 420mg and magnesium oxide 70mg\/5mL has been discontinued in the UK. Alternative simeticone-containing antacid preparations are:<\/p>\n<p>Maalox Plus<sup>\u00ae <\/sup>(Sanofi Aventis)<br \/>\n<b><i>Oral suspension (sugar-free)<\/i><\/b> simeticone 25mg, dried <b>aluminium hydroxide<\/b> 220mg, <b>magnesium hydroxide<\/b> 195mg\/5mL, 28days @ 5mL q.d.s =.\u00a33; <i>low Na<\/i><sup>+<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p>Altacite plus<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> (Peckforton)<\/p>\n<p><b><i>Oral suspension (sugar-free)<\/i><\/b> co-simalcite 125\/500 (simeticone 125mg, <b>hydrotalcite<\/b> 500mg)\/5mL 28days @ 10mL q.d.s =.\u00a37.50; <i>low Na<\/i><sup>+<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p>See PCF <a href=\"http:\/\/www.palliativedrugs.com\/formulary\/en\/simeticone.html\">Simeticone<\/a> monograph<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 13px;line-height: 19px\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Latest additions<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>\u00a0<\/b><b>PCF updated monographs<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The online <a href=\"http:\/\/www.palliativedrugs.com\/index.html\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Palliative Care Formulary (PCF)<\/span><\/a>\u00a0is being continually updated. The following monographs have been updated during March 2013 and supersede those in the publication of the 4<sup>th<\/sup> edition of the Palliative Care formulary (PCF4).
