Free access to the on-line Palliative Care Formulary in Scotland<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n

From April 2013, NHS Education for Scotland has subscribed to the on-line Palliative Care Formulary (PCF4+). The content is continually updated and represents the most current version. It is hosted on the Palliative Care Portal of the Knowledge Network<\/span>\u00a0website. It is available free of charge to those with an NHS Education Scotland ATHENS username and password.<\/p>\n

Asilone discontinued in UK<\/b><\/p>\n

Asilone\u00ae<\/sup> oral suspension (Thornton & Ross) an antacid containing simeticone 135mg, aluminium hydroxide 420mg and magnesium oxide 70mg\/5mL has been discontinued in the UK. Alternative simeticone-containing antacid preparations are:<\/p>\n

Maalox Plus\u00ae <\/sup>(Sanofi Aventis)
\nOral suspension (sugar-free)<\/i><\/b> simeticone 25mg, dried aluminium hydroxide<\/b> 220mg, magnesium hydroxide<\/b> 195mg\/5mL, 28days @ 5mL q.d.s =.\u00a33; low Na<\/i>+<\/sup>.<\/p>\n

Altacite plus\u00ae<\/sup> (Peckforton)<\/p>\n

Oral suspension (sugar-free)<\/i><\/b> co-simalcite 125\/500 (simeticone 125mg, hydrotalcite<\/b> 500mg)\/5mL 28days @ 10mL q.d.s =.\u00a37.50; low Na<\/i>+<\/sup>.<\/p>\n
