For the first time in the UK, this conference\u00a0will bring together an international and inter-professional dialogue\u00a0between different stakeholders with the aim of fostering and\u00a0developing best practice in clinical ethics consultation and\u00a0decision-making across all sectors of healthcare.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Dr Doug Diekema, a leading paediatrician and ethicist from the Treuman\u00a0Katz Center in Seattle, will be delivering the keynote speech\u00a0reflecting on lessons learnt from his involvement with the\u00a0controversial case of a girl with severe mental and physical\u00a0disabilities which became known as the Ashley (Pillow Angel) case.<\/p>\n<p>Other speakers in this highly interactive conference include the\u00a0political activist Debbie Purdy (subject to health) and the team\u00a0behind the BBC Radio 4 programme &#8220;Inside the Ethics Committee&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>This unique line-up of high profile and influential speakers includes\u00a0nurses, doctors, lawyers, educationalists and service users.
