Using media to promote safety and prevent injuries<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
I have been intrigued by how best we can use The Media and (multi)media itself to promote safety and prevent injuries ever since attending the\u00a0Mayo Clinic Social Media and Healthcare Summit\u00a0<\/a>in 2015. At the time, I wrote here on the\u00a0Injury Prevention blog:<\/em> “Sometimes we need to advocate for the very heart that lies at our work: simple, credible information and resources that can make a difference in even one person\u2019s life<\/a>“. Similarly, I\u00a0have also written on how the language we use in the media around injury incidents matters, in\u00a0On Sharks and Media Advocacy<\/a>.<\/p>\n
Recognising and showcasing high-quality injury prevention and safety promotion media initiatives also forms an important part of our advocacy for our life’s work.<\/p>\n
We, here at\u00a0Injury Prevention<\/em>,\u00a0are therefore pleased to share the call for submissions for the 2018\u00a0International Safety Media Awards<\/a>:<\/span><\/p>\n
The International Safety Media Awards (ISMA)<\/a> recognize high-quality safety media from around the world. The ISMAs provide safety promotion and injury prevention professionals with an opportunity to showcase their media initiatives. Past winners have leveraged their ISMA successes, resulting in increased funding and worldwide recognition.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
Submissions will be showcased with awards presented at the World\u00a0Safety 2018<\/a>\u00a0Conference,\u00a05-7 November 2018<\/span><\/span>\u00a0in Bangkok, Thailand. <\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
At the conference, finalists enjoy networking with colleagues and learning from peers.\u00a0<\/span><\/u><\/u>A jury of renowned injury prevention and media specialists consider production quality, message clarity, innovation\/creativity and evaluation methods and results. <\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
Entry is free at\u00a0<\/span>http:\/\/www.alaska-ipc.org\/isma\/<\/a><\/span>. Entries are due by 31 March 2018.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
