\"London:The latest round of strike action from junior doctors in England is\u00a0taking place this week. In a similar vein to the action taken last month, junior doctors will be offering emergency care only for 48 hours\u00a0between 8am on Wednesday 6 April and 8am on Friday 8 April.\u00a0The BMJ will once again be charting events as they unfold this week.\u00a0<\/em>If you have any news, pictures, thoughts, or tweets to offer us on the industrial action, please send them to Gareth Iacobucci at giacobucci@bmj.com<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n

Friday 8th April<\/strong><\/p>\n

11.12 – Earlier this morning, The BMA’s junior doctors committee chair Johann Malawana – who has become accustomed to dealing with the media during recent strike days – faced what he described as his toughest interview\u00a0yet on BBC Radio 4’s Today programme.<\/p>\n

10:50 – After the action drew to a close at 8am this morning, the BBC is reporting<\/a> that fresh talks have been ruled out but the government.<\/p>\n

“Sources told the BBC that the British Medical Association had blown its chance to negotiate and said there would be no deviation from imposition.<\/em><\/p>\n

It means the first-ever all-out strike by junior doctors looks likely to go ahead in three weeks, with the BMA also maintaining it will not climb down<\/em>,” the BBC reports.<\/p>\n

13.53 – The BMA’s junior doctor committee chair Johann Malawana has written a\u00a0blog<\/a> for The Huffington Post about the strike.<\/p>\n

In it, he urges the government to “….listen to the medical colleges, health charities and now some of their own back benchers when they say imposition of a contract is simply the wrong thing to do.”<\/em><\/p>\n

Junior doctors taking part in industrial action have expressed concerns over the effect that their new contract could have on the NHS in the future, BMJ Careers reports<\/a>.<\/p>\n
