Under the restoring invisible and abandoned trials (RIAT) initiative, <em>The BMJ<\/em>\u00a0has published a major reanalysis which found paroxetine to be neither safe nor effective in treating adolescents with depression.<\/p>\n<p>The story has been <a href=\"http:\/\/bmjcom.c.presscdn.com\/company\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Riat-package.pdf\">widely picked up<\/a> in the international press, including including <em>New York Times<\/em>, <em>Washington Post<\/em>, Reuters, <em>the Guardian<\/em>, and\u00a0<em>The Independent<\/em> who wrote that, &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/life-style\/health-and-families\/health-news\/antidepressant-was-given-to-millions-of-young-people-after-trials-showed-it-was-dangerous-10504555.html\"><em>The BMJ<\/em>\u2019s final judgement on the infamous &#8216;Study 329&#8217; represents a symbolic victory for the burgeoning &#8216;open data&#8217; movement in health.<\/a>&#8220;<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2022\u00a0<\/strong>It can be both reassuring and practical to have patients included in multidisciplinary team meetings.
