Why, put the other one out of action. Not all the time of course, but for periods of <a href=\"http:\/\/jama.ama-assn.org\/cgi\/content\/full\/296\/17\/2095\">repetitive exercise<\/a>. It\u2019s a pretty basic idea, but successful enough to justify the trial eponym \u2013 <a href=\"http:\/\/jama.ama-assn.org\/cgi\/content\/full\/296\/17\/2095\">EXCITE<\/a>. It\u2019s a lot more exciting than yet another unsuccessful neuroprotective agent for stroke (see this week&#8217;s <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thelancet.com\/journals\/lancet\/article\/PIIS0140673606696451\/fulltext\">Lancet<\/a><\/em>).<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>In the days when I was an active member of the British Society for Heart Failure (most of whose members are actually <em>against <\/em>heart failure), I attended a conference which featured a seemingly passionate debate about the benefits of <a href=\"http:\/\/jama.ama-assn.org\/cgi\/content\/full\/296\/17\/2105\">statins in heart failure<\/a>.
