{"id":239,"date":"2007-05-28T23:01:36","date_gmt":"2007-05-28T22:01:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/resource.bmj.com\/bmj\/2007\/05\/28\/lancet-26-may-2006\/"},"modified":"2007-05-28T23:01:36","modified_gmt":"2007-05-28T22:01:36","slug":"lancet-26-may-2006","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stg-blogs.bmj.com\/bmj\/2007\/05\/28\/lancet-26-may-2006\/","title":{"rendered":"Lancet  26 May 2006"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We all very much want to believe that aspirin can prevent pre-eclampsia, but since the first positive trial arguments have bounced back and forth. <!--more-->Now the PARIS group has <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thelancet.com\/journals\/lancet\/article\/PIIS0140673607607120\/abstract\">analysed the individual patient data from 31 trials <\/a>and there is clear evidence that aspirin in pregnancy not only reduces PET but also pre-term birth and total adverse birth outcomes, by about 10%.<\/p>\n<p>A <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thelancet.com\/journals\/lancet\/article\/PIIS0140673607608204\/abstract\">seminar on repetitive strain injury<\/a> is marred by many vague definitions and over-comprehensive treatment lists in the text. This could be a fertile area for primary care research. For example, \u201cno trials about carpal tunnel syndrome have included exclusively a working population or included sick leave as an outcome.\u201d To me, the most useful thing is the list on Table 1 (from Sluiter), the only place where there are clear definitions of the common conditions and also Radial tunnel syndrome and Guyon\u2019s canal syndrome, which I shall now perhaps recognise for the first time. It seems that I have been paying insufficient attention to the <em>Scand J Work Environ Health<\/em>, where <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sjweh.fi\/show_abstract.php?abstract_id=637\">Sluiter et al first published this list<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We all very much want to believe that aspirin can prevent pre-eclampsia, but since the first positive trial arguments have bounced back and forth.
