European Journal of Hospital Pharmacy: helping hospital pharmacists to provide better patient care

16 Sep, 11 | by BMJ

This week saw the launch of a new website for the European Journal of Hospital Pharmacy: Science and Practice,  the official journal of the European Association of Hospital Pharmacists (EAHP). The first issue of the newly merged journal will appear in January 2012, bringing together the previous two separate editions of Practice and Science, to provide everything in one, easy to read, journal. The brand new website contains a call for papers, message from the president of EAHP, instructions for authors and details of the editorial board.

The Journal provides a strong platform that concentrates the scientific output of the pharmacy profession and related disciplines, making  pharmaceutical innovations and developments in pharmaceutical and biomedical sciences accessible for hospital pharmacists to use in all aspects of their clinical, scientific and professional work.

The Journal has been published since 1995, publishing mainly scientific peer reviewed papers submitted by European hospital pharmacists, covering a range of clinical, scientific and practice topics. From 2002, EJHP evolved to its current format with cover and feature stories, clinical updates, medication safety section, conference reports, country focus, technical and therapeutic developments and other editorial elements, in addition to submitted scientific content. In 2005 the Science edition was launched for publication of scientific output from the hospital pharmacy profession and related disciplines.

EJHP takes the lead in supporting hospital pharmacists to provide safe, efficacious and cost-effective pharmaceutical care to the benefit of our patients. Committed to be the leading journal communicating on all aspects of hospital pharmacy, and thereby advancing the science, practice and profession of hospital pharmacy, we strive to reach this goal by offering a home for high quality editorial content, either submitted by our best scientists or commissioned from leaders in the field. It is our goal that EJHP becomes a major source for education and inspiration to improve practice and standard of care for patients in hospitals and related institutions.

EJHP, Science and Practice, is published six times per year and distributed to all EAHP members (24.000) in 32 countries. Readership and authorship from non-European countries is also encouraged.
