Sports medicine involves the diagnosis and management of musculoskeletal disorders &amp; medical issues related to exercise, while exercise medicine aims to use increased physical activity to prevent and treat non-communicable\u00a0diseases such as <a href=\"http:\/\/bjsm.bmj.com\/content\/46\/10\/709.full\" target=\"_blank\">Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #800080\">This new BJSM Guest Blog series<\/span><\/strong> will serve as a platform to highlight topics\/ issues that interest an undergraduate audience, promote SEM-related opportunities (e.g. conferences or shadowing) and share tips and advice on how students can succeed in landing an SEM post.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800080\"><strong>I encourage you to contribute to the blog.<\/strong><\/span> You can add an extra line to your CV while networking with similarly\u00a0interested individuals across the globe. Nudge your peers to do so as well &#8211; we are a community!<\/p>\n<p>To submit your blog, please:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>email\u00a0<strong>liamwestsem@hotmail.co.uk<\/strong>\u00a0with your 400-700 word entry in a word document format.<\/li>\n<li>attach an appropriate jpeg picture (<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Creative_Commons_license\" target=\"_blank\">No copyright infringement please<\/a>.
