Over 200 voters decided BJSM’s ‘Oscar’ for the best cover of 2011. The South African Sports Medicine Association provided the issue theme and focus and again thanks Teboho Aaron Mokoena – who we are sure will be delighted with this plaudit. Will SASMA repeat this win in 2012 with the current issue on head and neck injuries?

Let’s not get ahead of ourselves; congratulations first on SASMA’s tremendous 2011 which included membership growth, a tremendously appreciated BiAnnual Congress at the Sandton Convention Centre, further popularity of SASMA’s own Journal the South African Journal of Sports Medicine, and full engagement with BJSM for all SASMA members. We use the word ‘engagement’ rather than ‘access’ because BJSM partners with its member societies to serve those sports medicine communities. Take a look at the June 2011 BJSM issue to review the lessons from the 2010 world cup. Congratulations to the SASMA team that conceived of the 2011 issue focus and had an eye for a great cover image and design. If you are interested in history, here is the blog about the final round of the competition.

All that is left is for our accounting firm to open the secret ballot among those who voted for the prize which was for $133 book voucher for Amazon. More on that to follow.
